User experience can be defined as how an individual interacts with and experiences a product or service. User Experience Design involves the design of the entire process of acquiring and integrating the product, including aspects of branding, design, usability and function. It is a story that begins before the device is in the user’s hands. UX together with Human resources can be an incredible weapon to attract and retain talent.

The image below shows how HR and UX are similar, both are human — centered. Their main goal is to capture users/individuals and retain them while providing a light and meaningful experience.

Ref. Jonathan Litty — HR and UX design: a new way to approach your employer brand

Human Resources -

  1. Identify the profiles matching my needs and my corporate culture, then try to find them on the web
  2. Recruit them
  3. Welcome them → Onboarding
  4. Retain them and help them to grow

User Experience -

  1. Research to understand the context, the current situation, the market, the competition and the users on the field.
  2. Ideation to precisely define the problematic, brainstorm on solution ideas and decide on the assumptions to validate.
  3. Co-creation to prototype our solution ideas as simply as possible…along with users tests to determine quickly if our assumptions/solutions are relevant or not.
  4. The build phase, aiming to bring the solution to life and ensure to convey the initial vision and keep the the final user in the iteration loops.

To conclude, the UX design gives you an outline and a framework. The HR team will carry out the operations needed guided by the framework.

UX and HR are very important to a business so that they can understand what employees/candidates go through and how they can improve their day to day activities in order to be successful.
